Avalon Kicks are coming!

Ever wonder what happens to the excess material that never made it into a shoe? Probably not, it’s not widely discussed but let us shed some light on it for you. Factories over-order materials to make sure that they’re not caught short during production; when the order is complete, the unused material becomes ‘waste’. In a world that’s fighting to become environmentally sustainable, we at Avalon Kicks see this as an opportunity.

Avalon Kicks is striving to make this waste a thing of the past. Many factories will dispose of rolls and rolls of custom-made leathers and suedes that have never been touched – and we want to use these materials to make shoes only a handful of people will have. We will only ever make 999 pairs of each style. Who knew saving the planet could feel so exclusive?

We are currently based in China where the shoe industry has thrived for the last 20 years. Footwear is in the process of leaving this country, heading for cheaper land and cheaper labour, but a lifetime of manufacturing is being left behind. First, we hope to make a dent in the waste problem in just one province of this mammoth country. But with your help, we can combat waste around the world. For every pair of Avalon Kicks you buy, we will donate 5% of the proceeds to Waste Aid who inspire communities around the world to manage waste efficiently.
